viewnior – another image viewer on Linux (with support for GIF)

Here is another Linux viewer (Image) that is worth a mention. URL :

Description :

Viewnior is an image viewer program. Created to be simple, fast and elegant.  It\’s minimalistic interface provides more screen space for your images. Among  its features are:

* Fullscreen & Slideshow
* Rotate, flip, save, delete images
* Animation support
* Browse only selected images
* Navigation window
* Simple interface
* Configurable mouse actions

The best part about the viewer is the ability to display gif inherently. Worth a look if you are using a lot of gif images.

Using mtpaint of Fedora to modify your images and make them look different.

Here is the description of mtpaint :

mtPaint is a simple painting program designed for creating icons
and pixel-based artwork. It can edit indexed palette or 24 bit RGB
images and offers basic painting and palette manipulation tools.
Its main file format is PNG, although it can also handle JPEG, GIF,
TIFF, BMP, XPM, and XBM files.

So, it looks like a good tool to create icons and artwork. But we can use this to do some stuff with our digital images also. I will show you some examples below, but before that let us install the program:

sudo yum install mtpaint

Now, the initial screen looks like this:

There is transform color in the menu, this can be used to adjust the Gamma, brightness, Contrast and so on. Will really help to fix up these things before going any further with the image.

Now we will look at the edge detect. There are couple of options here that you can try.  The output after applying one of these would look something similar to the next image.

\"screenshot_002\" \"screenshot_003\"

Now we have the difference of Gaussian effect. This also helps you give a different look to your images. Example below:

\"screenshot_004\" \"screenshot_005\"

And for the final image I have the Embrossed image.

Rest I will leave to your imagination. There\’s not much you can do anyway as this is not designed with this purpose in mind.
